General Store News

COMING SOON...NEW SHIPMENT OF HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES.

The general store will soon open under new management. The Blum Brothers’ sons have taken over, and they want to open up the store to visitors. Examine their stock of merchandise and gather round the stove for checkers and gossip. Visitors may even become store clerks, weighing products, wrapping up merchandise and wrapping packages.

The new interactive General Store will open to the public November 6, 2010.

History of General Store

About the building itself: Originally located on Wolf Street in Dallas, this General Store was built and operated by Albert F. Mueller, a Jewish immigrant from Germany. This one-room, frame building with a flat roof and squared off facade is typical of many store buildings in the region at the turn of the century.
