Bring Your Troop to Dallas Heritage Village
Visit Dallas Heritage Village with your troop and experience history. We believe in living history, and as a part
of that mission, we offer a variety of hands-on programs for Girl Scouts of all
ages. Choose from our badge workshops, guided tour, or self-guided tour
All workshops are $15. Please allow 2 hours for each workshop.
Daisy Girl Scouts
Respect Myself and Others: Scouts will earn the Petal-Gloria
Enjoy a Victorian tea party in one of our historic homes and learn about proper etiquette
and manners. Tour some of the Village's historic houses and experience activities enjoyed
during the Victorian era.
Money Counts: Scouts will earn the Financial Literacy Leaf
Spend some time downtown on our historic main street learning about coins, paper money and
the cost of fun. Plan a budget, visit the bank and go shopping in the General Store, 1900s
Making Choices: Scouts will earn the Financial Literacy Leaf
Sometimes it's hard to separate our wants from our needs when saving our pennies. Let's go
shopping at the General Store and visit our turn-of-the-century Bank as we learn about setting
goals, saving money and helping others with the choices we make.
Brownie Girl Scouts
Making Friends: Scouts will earn the Skill Building Badge-Manners
Enjoy a Victorian tea party in one of our historic homes while learning etiquette and manners
to foster lasting friendships. Tour some of the Village's historic houses and experience activities
enjoyed during the Victorian era.
Money Manager: Scouts will earn the Financial Literacy I Badge
Let's go shopping! First, a stop at the turn-of-the-century Bank, to learn all about savings and
budgets, then on to the General Store to shop for the latest products of the 1900s.
Junior Girl Scouts
Social Butterfly: Scouts will earn the Skill Building Badge-Manners
Experience a Victorian Tea in one of our historic homes where conversation is priority and
appropriate manners are a must. Tour some of the Village's historic houses and experience
activities enjoyed during the Victorian era.
Savvy Shopper: Scouts will earn the Financial Literacy II Badge
You need this but you want that: however do you decide? Tour the village as you try and find
out what makes people happy (or not!) with what they buy. Travel back in time as we explore
and compare the needs and wants of girls in the 19th century and girls today.
Time Traveler Tours
$10 per Girl Scout
Take a tour of several buildings in the Village. Choose from one of the following themes:
If you were a pioneer girl in the 1800s, what would your life have been like? Take a guided
tour of the Miller Log House, Millermore and the Farmstead ending with a self-guided craft
from the past.
If you had lived at the turn of the century, what would your life have been like? Take a guided
tour of Blum House and Sullivan House and Renner School and finish with a self-guided craft from
Tours can be adapted to any age level. All Girl Scouts will receive the Dallas Heritage Village
Time Traveler Patch.
$7 per Girl Scout
Explore the historic village on your own. All Girl Scouts will receive a Time Traveler Scavenger
Hunt and the Time Traveler Patch.
Do you plan on visiting lots of museums as a troop? Consider the "History Museum Explorers Patch,"
a progressive patch featuring history museums in Dallas. The DHV patch is $3. For more details,
Workshops and tours are only conducted during regular museum hours and must be
booked at least three weeks in advance. Please remember, we are an outdoor
museum! Workshops are held rain or shine. Please dress appropriately for the
The Fine Print:
Workshop size is limited to a minimum of 6 Girl Scouts and a maximum of 20 Girl
Scouts. Troops can be combined to meet the minimum. Tour size is limited to 25
Touring time of the entire museum may not be a part of your chosen workshop.
