Texas Crossroads Festival - Down on the Farm (Pre-K to 2nd Grade)


September 21 Only
Cost: $5 per student or chaperone, teachers free

Students will learn about the many animals at the 1861 Farmstead and how they helped the daily lives of Dallas' earliest residents. Austin's Emmy-winning The Biscuit Brothers will entertain kids with their own special style of music, fresh from Old Macdonald's Musical Farm. Hear storytelling in Millermore Barn and play school yard games from yesteryear.


Candlelight Tour (All Grade Levels)


Tuesday – Friday, December 2007 Only

Cost: $4 per student, $5 per chaperone, teachers free

How do holiday traditions from the 19th century continue to shape our celebrations today? Explore Christmas and Hanukkah of the past in our historic homes.

Students can complete the Holiday History Hunt and take part in several hands-on activities. Take-home crafts and demonstrations by visiting artisans are scheduled for this magical winter celebration.


African American Heritage Tour (All Grade Levels)


Tuesday – Friday, February 2008 Only
Cost: $4 per student, $5 per chaperone, teachers free

What was it like for African Americans in early Dallas? What were their pastimes, hobbies, family dynamics and ways of life? Students discover the answers to these questions when visiting the Miller log cabin, the Millermore pre-Civil War era home, 1860s living farmstead and the Shotgun house.


Legends, Yarns & Fables Kids Day (All Grade Levels)


May 2, 2008 Only SOLD OUT
Cost: $5 per student or chaperone, teachers free

Take a look into the past and experience tales from today's best storytellers in the region. Students and teachers will be placed in groups on a set schedule and are also welcome to self-tour the Village before or after their storytelling times.
