(/images/postimages/cl2011_bm0162.gif) Food trucks were first at DHV during Candlelight. Yes, the rumors are true! We are going to have Food Trucks here at DHV on a regular basis, beginning July 28. We are collaborating with a Cedars group that is serving as brokers, working as go-between for DHV and independent food trucks. As you have probably noticed, food trucks are the hottest new trend in the food business, and if you have been in the Arts District or at the Sigels Parking lot on lower Greenville, you’ve seen how popular they are. Our Cedars brokers have made arrangements with a pool of around 15 food trucks, all of whom are interested in participating in a new Cedars Food Park at DHV. Even though I haven’t been eligible to join the summer reading program at the library for many years, I always get an itch to do a lot of reading in the summer months. Perhaps it’s because it’s so hot outside. What’s better than sitting in a comfortable chair under a ceiling fan, reading the afternoon away? And I’m not alone, at least not here at Dallas Heritage Village. Just about all of the staff are huge readers–probably an unofficial requirement to work in a museum. The Junior Historians are at it again! Some of you may remember the Doctor’s Office project (http://dhvblog.org/2011/07/19/a-new-generation-of-curators/)from last summer. It was so much fun, and it’s certainly been a big hit with visitors. In the last year, we’ve been doing extensive preservation work on the Worth Hotel. (http://dhvblog.org/2011/08/12/it-takes-a-village/) As the exterior is spiffed up, it only makes sense to work on the interior as well. Around 10 Junior Historians are currently at work on the exhibit–some of them worked on the Doctor’s Office project, but we have some new faces as well. We’ll be finishing up work this summer, with the grand opening to be held in conjunction with our annual meeting on Thursday, September 27. ..
