A letter from our Executive Director and President, Melissa Prycer: September isn’t just back to school—it’s back to the Village! Gates open again, welcoming visitors after closing to the public during August. Teachers start to schedule field trips. We’re gearing up for all of our exciting fall events—check out the calendar! In the midst of all of this, we are also requesting support for our annual campaign. The past few months have also been busy for the neighborhood around us. Several new businesses are coming to the Cedars including Alamo Drafthouse. Dirt has been flying at the Dallas Farmers Market for many months, and we are excited to have this great marketplace so close to the Village. While all of these new folks are making t ..

The More You Learn…

Alex Sniffen was our other intern over the summer, and while he technically worked for the Education Department, he could be found helping out in all kinds of places at the Village including the transport of very heavy and very valuable artifacts. Graduations, reunions, weddings, and anniversaries are often historic and momentous events themselves and hosting such an event on our iconic grounds adds an element of the past to your festivities. In turn, your events add to the developing story and history of the Village. This past Spring and Summer were filled with families starting new chapters of their lives together while leaving their mark on us. There is a rich and intertwining history of rentals at our museum and we would love f ..

What do you want to do?

Published on Friday, August 08, 2014 By Melissa Prycer
As the school year ears, our summer intern Sarah is returning her final semester. She wanted to leave us with a few words of her internship experience. Here she is, pictured center, with Hendrix Alumni Elizabeth Qualia (Guest Services Representative) and Melissa Prycer (Executive Director and President). (/images/postimages/hendrix-pic.jpg) What do you want to do? When I’m asked this question by a family member, professor, friend, or new acquaintance, I often struggle with how to answer. With the exception of my lofty 8 year old dreams of a career as a professional gymnast which were foiled by a growth spurt, I have never known what I wanted to be when I grew up. I know the subjects that interest me, and the skills I perform well. I have taken the personality te ..
